What level of expertise, and is it possible to swap the face of a MPH speedo with a KLMS face. Thank you in anticipation. Coopz

You could, as there's only a few screws and a gentle pull between you and the speedo face. The problem comes with the recorded distance; it will still be recording in miles, not kms. If you decide to go ahead with it, make a note of exactly where the needle is pointing when relaxed.

Undo the seven/nine screws on the back. Lift the back off and don't lose the rubber gasket
When the back is off, there's five obvious crosshead screws holding the instruments in. Remove those
Turn the cluster the right way up in your hand
Pull the speedo reset knob outwards. The instrument cluster should now drop out into your hand
If the reset knob comes away completely you'll find the spring, retaining washer and c-clip either in your hand or inside the cluster
Grip the needle centre gently and pull straight upwards. One of two things will happen:-

- The best result is that the needle comes off cleanly and leaves the knurled mount on the spindle. When replacing it, line it up with the relaxed position and push gently.
- The needle comes off and takes the mount with it. In this case, use a spot of superglue when you put it back on.

There's now three small screws between you and the instrument face.

On reassembly, do NOT press hard on the needle because you will bend/break the spindle. Look under the needle as you push it down to see exactly where it is. Also be sure it's not dragging on the face.

Might actually be six. Anyway, they're all nice and bright and cad-passivated shiny.
