Hi all

My LCD clock has lost loads segments. I have spare clock from another set instruments. Is there any way to power up clock off the bike to see if it works before I swap them over.

Can I rig up a temporary battery without damaging the clock? Very Happy

It only takes 9V to test it.  If you look closely you can see very small "+" and "-" printed on the back of the clock to determine polarity.

I use one of these:
LCD clock E22

My clock has a mind of it’s own. Complete digits but random time changes.

That's indicative of the clock loosing power intermittently. I would guess that it is related to the connectors which supply power having corroded and poor contact now ensues. I'd open the cluster and see if you can remove the clock module to clean it.

Missing segments can be caused by poor contact between the flexible contact strips and the LCD caused by the plastic clips of the housing loosing their grip.

This can be overcome by adding some shims (the white bits) as in the picture. I used the thin card from a visiting card for my shims!
