Hello everyone!
My name is David and I purchased a 1988 K100LT about 6 months ago in non-running condition from a gentleman whom I used to work with. I got it running and drove it for 4 months but it has a new problem that I am trying to resolve. I absolutely love the bike and appreciate all the help you all have to offer here. Hopefully I can be of assistance to someone in the future as well. Thank you for having me in this forum to participate here.

Have a great day,
Dave

Good to have you here Dave!
Mauldin (South Carolina) must be a nice place to bike.
Enjoy your rides and let use see in a other thread what we can do to keep her running.

Cheers from Germany

Thanks for the reply Duck.
I found a thread that seems to be what I am needing. The engine sputters and backfires after it gets warm. So far I'm interested in the hall effect sensor and have it apart to check the voltage but need to find the diagram that crazy frog had posted many years ago. It seems that it is no longer available through the link he posted. I did order two sensors off ebay that I cross referenced from the old Honeywell part number. I think they are coming from Bulgaria so I can splice those in when I get them but I would really like to know if this is truly the problem before cutting wires. Any idea where else I can look for the PDF file crazy frog had made a while back?

Also check the fuel return line where it goes into the tank. If the line is non OEM it can crimp over causing the symptoms you are experiencing. It can be hard to determine that this is occurring as when you slide the tank backwards the line uncrimps itself. The crimping over is exaggerated by hot weather due to the softening of the hose.
Regards Martin.

Not sure it will help, but you might want to wiggle the wiring harness for the fuel injectors.  One of my bikes was acting up the other day when I was running them in the garage to charge the batteries and circulate the oil.

As I poked around, I bumped the connector on one of the injectors, and the engine stumbled.  Wiggling it a bit more I could make the engine smooth out or stumble.  Took off the connectors and cleaned them with Deoxit.  Problem fixed.

I have been through almost every connection on my bikes, but never thought to do the injectors.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I just wanted to get back on here and say that and what the problem was.

It definitely ended up being the hall effect sensor for sure. I bought a new one from a place in Denver Colorado called Euro Moto Electrics and it is running great again. I'm currently also rebuilding my old one with some sensors I bought on ebay for $21 each. Almost done with it.

I really appreciate you all helping me out with getting this thing back on the road. I would have posted earlier but it's been raining so much here and I really don't trust people in cars, let alone in the rain.

Take care,
David Cianciolo

That's good news.  Hope you decide to hang around with the inmates once the bike is running well.
