Found this on youtube which might make some of use reconsider bent valve extensions on our bikes if riding around 180km/h. Might want to put up with awkward tire inflations.

Basically it tore off the rim at high speed leading to rapid deflation

Getting the air chuck on the front wheel valve stem is a pain in the ass, especially on the 16V bike with the big brake rotors.

I got one of these guys with the right angle chuck. It really makes it easy to check and add air.

That settles it for me! I will never use an inner tube with an angled inflation valve in my Brick's tires no matter how great the temptation.  drunken

Especially an inner tube that is that big and from 1938!  How the heck will I get it in the tire?

It is possible to replace the entire valve with a 90' angled one - I have done this on my bikes and I don't think they would have this issue. I think the video showed one of those 90' adaptors that screws onto the original valve in place of the dust cap. The rubber stem of the valve would have been unnaturally stressed as a result of the centripetal force acting on the extension. Maybe the valve was very old?
