Here is my first post here. It’s nice to find this forum as I’m for almost the last 6 months considering to get a K100 and do my deep dive into the world of restoration/customizing. I don’t have any background in fixing bikes but I really want to do it.
At the moment I found 2 available bikes. One K100 1997 and one from 1990. I will start reading around and try to find the best way to proceed.

Welcome to the forum. Here you'll find a wealth of information.

I would be very curious about a K100 from '97. Perhaps it's a K1100 or someone has misrepresented the year or model. You'll find they started life as '83 models, changed to 16V about 1990 and production ended early '90s when the 1100 came on strong. There was a slight overlap in model years between the two.

Either way, a wonderful base for a creative build (too much 'cookie cutting' going on) or to simply leave as the factory intended and enjoy its inherent strengths.
