Hi,

my name is Tor, and I used to clock up tens of thousands of miles on first a K100RS, and then on a K75 - the latter one of the Ongar specials fitted with a R100RS fairing.  Currently I have paused my K ownership, since I have too many boxers . . .

I didn't rule out future K ownership though, and with that in mind I squirreled away some selected K parts that might become useful to me one day. Now about to move house, I've decided to offer those to someone who might appreciate them. I'll see if I can list them for sale here. Of main interest may be a BM137 Ohlins rear shock, and  some of the custom made Ongar special fairing panels.

Ride safely,

Tor
Surrey, UK

Hi Tor,

Welcome to the forum. I didn't know you used to ride a K. You only ever hired the Club tools for the boxers!

What state is the shock in and would it a fit a K1100 (mine neds replacing).

Thanks for the welcome, Mike!

the reason I never hired any K tools is that the Mighty Bricks just work, without needing any major repairs (at least when ridden with some mechanical sympathy). Spline lubing, wiring harness troubleshooting, and rear brake caliper rebuild was all I had to do to my K100RS; after I managed to sort out the suspension set-up.

Wrt K100 vs K1100 compatability of my BM137 Ohlins shock, please have a look at https://www.ohlins.com/product-item/61214/ and https://www.ohlins.com/product-item/61183/. The main difference I can see is that the K1100 shock is listed with a 382 mm length, whereas the K100 one is listed at 354 mm. There is also a difference in the "stroke" rating (93 vs 95 mm), but otherwise the specs look identical.

I bought it new from Motorworks when my original K100 shock lost its damping, and used it on the RS until it was written off in 2010. Then I used it on my K75, but the spring rating seemed a bit too stiff (lighter bike, in retrospect - and it's softer fork springs made the rear end feel a bit firm). I had the shock professionally rebuilt in 2013, and since then it wasn't used for more than 10 kMi before the K75 also was written off (both bikes due to cost of repair of fairing & other cosmetic parts).

I'd rate the shock as in VGC functionally, but it looks used, partly since I haven't tried to polish it to look like new.

You'd be more than welcome to try it out on your K1100 to see if it works for you.

Best wishes,

Tor

Hi Tor,

I'll have a look at the links when I have a bit more time, currently busy with servicing our Raburn before the winter really starts, plus a big birthday for Sylvia tomorrow!
