Howdy Y'all. Just picked up this project. 1994 K1100LT. The bike had an accident that resulted in hitting a ditch several years ago. I acquired it, with the intent to do a resto-mod on it.

As per typical, I'll be doing a cafe-ish build on it, with the intent to getting it back on the road looking like something somewhat cool. I have zero intention for the bike to be the coolest/lightest/fastest. Just want to get it back to some semblance of a rideable machine with limited fairings. I have some ideas, that are mostly just copy cats of what others have done already.

So far, the triple tree is wrecked and the the Shifter Shaft is broken off at the transmission. New Upper is on the way, hopefully I'll be able to get back to rolling and be able to get it cranked up purring.

After that, I'll likely be deleting ABS and hiding the battery elsewhere.

I'll have to deal with the transmission issue in some way. Probably I'll just buy a used ebay. Or I might buy the part and fix it. Who knows. Any advice here is mucho appreciated.

Welcome!  Nice project.  I would look for a complete transmission.  Should be a few out there.  I doubt it would cost much more than the shaft you need and will save you at least a day's work.

Thanks for the input! I was chasing a few on eBay. I think I’ll pull the trigger.

Better still, you've picked the right engine to play with. Google 'Larry Romestant' and see what he's done with the air intakes on the Kagusta.

I’m pretty sure it is. Right now I don’t see any signs of stress. I think the triple tree upper broke before the frame took any damage. I need to strip it further though and then inspect it deeper.

Welkome aboard. Good luck with the project - same colour as mine.

Since it has ABS II hence no large modulators near the passenger footpegs you may be able to retain the ABS.

I'd recommend leaving that decision until you get well into your design of the new look.

Cheers

Good point, I will probably put it off for a while. Just really want to get a clean look and simplify the whole bike.
