So decided to give my new K100 a toothbrushing.

Found evidence of light oil leak at the top and bottom of the timing cover so decided to take everything apart. (still snow on the ground for a couple of months).

Here is what I found.

The fairings oil, coolant has to be drained.
The valve and crank covers need to come off.
Wow my bottom end is clean (what a relief).
Wicked close but not perfect.
The timing cover (1990 K 100rs 16v) does not have a solid gasket for the timing cover.
Makes sense as the valve and crank covers mate to the timing cover.

The cause of the leak is that the interface of the Cylinder Head and the Block are not a perfect fit as the gasket seal for the timing cover is liquid applied (3 bond) RTV and overtime and heat cycles that slight imperfection let the goo out.

So, while i'm this far........

Who among us has not said that, especially after a tank-slapper?

Well I've thought it, often.

But I don't usually announce it. Changing times huh? I'm all for it.

Now let me tell you about something that happened to me last night.....

How often? Update your Facebook page. A competitor is out there somewhere just waiting for that.

Is this what they call 'off topic', what the f*** must Canadakbike be thinking?

Apologies from me.

I think clean bottom ends are, very important. I'm pleased to read this.

But the cavities for cleaning are on the top side of the engine, not on the bottom......nothing about a K is normal.
