bought this beautiful Red/Yellow specimen,  been sitting awhile, but new tires, oils and some TLC had it up and performing to expectations quickly.

It has a factory alarm system, with a key on/off control.
PO said Alarm was turned on, but he had no keys for it.
NO PROBLEM I thought... Until after about 5 months, at 12:30 am it decided to wake up the neighborhood.!

turned on key, alarm went off.  Back to bed.  1 hr later HELLO WAKE UP!  Key on, no help.  started bike, ok silence.
1 hour later, Im awake again.  This time nothing helped, had to disconnect the basic engine ground wire to get some sleep.

I have removed the keyed lock, disconnected the wires,  Tried it with simply unplugged... still goes off
jumpered the 2 wires together,  repeat of same.

Now this is NOT an immediate reaction... sometimes takes 5 min to sound off, some times much as 1 hour.

It has NOT gone off while riding it.

Anyone have thoughts, experience in this??  The actual alarm noise is the horn!

Thanks

Disconnect the alarm connector in the relay box under the rear of the fuel tank.

Wow. Thanks. On it in the am
BTW. In your pic I note a connection tagged. KS
Is that by any chance the connector for the kickstand switch that prevents starting while down?

No, that's the main label for the entire wiring harness.

Not that I really care what you call it but just as an FYI: On a motorcycle it's called a side stand. Bicycles have kickstands.

It's pretty easy to disable that cutoff feature if you don't like it. (I have it disabled on all of my bikes.)

Ouch on the Kickstand point.  I also ride bicycles, but that's no excuse.
Thanks for your help,  I would like to disable that function, find it very bothersome.
I found the switch but haven't chased down where it ties into anything.
Any input is appreciated.
This is one of 7 that I have licensed, and one of the top 3 I get out!

will I have to completely remove tank to access the relay box?

The 16V K-bike manual describes a sordid tale of woe when checking or installing relays. It makes being hit by flying debris and blasted by the elements on a naked K an attractive trade-off. Laughing Luckily, the relays aren't too sensitive, especially if the battery is kept charged and the electrical connections are in good condition.

To access the box:
remove the seat cover
remove the seat
remove the knee foam pads both side
remove the foam tank pad
That will give you room to pull the tank back, disconnect the wires for the pump and the gas hoses.
Don't try to work with the tank in place...
