G'day all ye knowledgeable ones. I'm in the process of bringing back to life the "Goulburn" bike. During the process of replacing fuel lines, a more easily accessible location for the FPR would make the job so much easier. Has anyone ever relocated the FPR and if so where to. This topic has probably been covered before but I'm keen to get your response. Thanks in advance. Cheers Tom

How often are you planning to replace the fuel lines?

I would just leave well alone Tom. I know the lines are not easy to do as I have just done a set on Marg's my K75RT but for the times you even go near them finding a suitable other place, well I don't think it's worth the mucking about.
BTW do you still want the handlebar mounts. I found the set I thought I had.

Thanks for reply Rick. I will heed your advice. I'm reluctant to spend money on a new FPR.

Bugger about the bar clamps. I just needed one which is on the way from motorworks.

as you know tom there is a cutout built into the base of the airbox ,,which conveniently allows the fpr to reside just there
I have a thought that it was purposely designed to fit there ..as it would be a reasonable warm location for those folks that live in the far north , and so that icing up would not be an issue around the output of the fpr (remember as fluids and gasses expand ie : loose pressure- expand  , there is a definite cooling effect that happens )

I cant see any reason that placing it  almost anywhere else would be an issue out here , unless you plan on hiting the snowies etc commonly

I wouldn't suggest real close to the radiator  

in a way its a pitty that there is so much stuff on that side of the engine , throttle bodies , coils, plenum etc

of corse you have to remember that its much better to keep the high pressure lines as short as possible but that doesn't seem to affect the k 1100 versions which do a reverse flow - from back to front in comparison to the 2 valve k100 models

maybe a detailed look at the k1100 layout might give some other ideas ?  (sorry I haven't studied it at all ) but worth a thought

In case you haven't dug into it yet, here's my method for getting the air box out of the way:

You really only need to get the bottom half out of the way but getting the whole air box out of the way opens things up and gives you more working room.

It can be done.

I can recall seeing a photo someone posted a few years ago(possibly over at MotoBrick) of a FPR that was relocated to the space above the front end of the rail.  The regulator was mounted to a bracket, but I can't remember how.  I was impressed by the installation because I had just gone through the exercise of replacing the return lines on my K75RT.

Thank you all for replying. I have dug in and got to the FPR pretty much as described in Duck's link. I reckon the little bugger can stay where it is. Now to replace the fuel lines and the breather tube which had perished. Cheers Tom
