I did some searching and did not see anywhere.  I want to remove the ignition switch and replace with a maintained single-pole, single-throw switch.  I was reading the wiring diagram and just wanted to double check something.  I have never hot-wired a vehicle, but it appears that the I will need two switches.

Switch One - Red/Green wire
Switch Two - Green-Blue/Grey

Then to start the bike, both of those switches will need to be flipped "on".

Can someone please confirm my theory?  I did some searching, but could not find anything in this area.  TIA!

Why would Switch 2 be needed to start the bike?

Switch 2 would only be needed to allow the parking lights to be switched on when the engine is not running.

- Power to start the bike is provided by the switch contacts for Red - Green wire pairs
- Power to run everything connected to Fuse #2 is provided by the switch contacts for Grey/Blue - Grey wire pairs

You could achieve this equivalent function by using a DPDT switch - centre off switch.
- centre position = ignition off
- switch left = park position
- switch right = on position

I did that a number of years ago with my Honda CB500-4 when the ignition failed.

I quickly learned it was wise to have a second master switch on the power supply tot he ignition side and well out of the way......back then curiosity in these bikes was high and it saw people fiddling with it..ignition left on leading to flat battery.

OTOH, I have to ask - who leaves their parking lights on these days? In the UK, it's no longer a legal requirement to even have them. I'd buy an ignition switch from ebay (almost any one will do) and just connect the red across green in the 'on' position, then make a permanent connection slate to slate/blue.

Thanks gents! All makes sense. I was not sure if the green-blue/grey was needed once the bike was started. I was thinking of a DPST switch or relay if not we’re needed, but those are not that easy to find lol.
