Hi,
Just wondering is it necessary to remove the drive shaft before removing the gearbox.
Am just waiting for LONG bolts to allow gearbox slide back, but drive shaft is still connected

I really don't want to remove it it's not necessary

if it is necessary how the hell do I do it as the swing arm is off and I can't see a vise grip grabbing the end of the shaft

Ta
Rod

My RT as you know is Monolever, we didn't separate anything at all and moved the complete gearbox/swingarm/final drive/wheel unit back as a single assembly, separated the gearbox from the bell housing and rolled it back on the wheel and laid it down as a single unit. I don't think the Paralever differs in that regard but not sure.

As for the long bolts.......any correct threaded rod of same diameter and thread pitch will do that job for you.

We took it apart after we had the clutch and rear seal done for gearbox seals spline lube etc etc and reassembled it in its component form.

No, you do not need to remove the drive shaft from the back of the transmission.
