Well guys, I headed for the BM _ Brass Monkey Ralley on my trusty K1200LT. Unfortunately the injector pump died suddenly in the bondoo - whoopwops and I had to get a mate to trailer me to his garage, Caught a bus home and got a pump via motobins $300NZD, now what was that Falcon ?? one that fits??
Anyways all good now, purin as usual.
Come over for a tour, the bike values mentioned in the porevious post on this topc were just to give prospective K Iwi tourers an idea of the bikes. They are in very good condition and usually trouble free.

Rik

EB/ED sedan will do the job but the best fit is from a VL Commodore, the one with the 3 ltr Nissan engine.
Have fun at the rally and you can tell when they freeze off by the clanking in your undies.

Name's Brian and I have no idea how this forum works for communications and such.
I'll give you an introduction to my situation and see where we go from there.

So a couple of months ago I decided to pick up and travel the world because I was tired of living a normal mediocre life. I wanted something more. Somewhere in my gut told me I should go to New Zealand so here I go. I am flying into Auckland on the 22nd of August and have a couple days of people hosting me and showing me around. I thought that getting a bike would be a good option to get around but I am on a tight budget. If there are any bikes that are some budget bikes I could get that would be unbelievable!

I want to travel to all the major cities and great cities I hear about from the locals and explore both north and south islands. Once I find the city I love I will settle down, get an apartment and job. That city will be my home base for traveling to other countries as well.

I found this forum through a good friend's dad and was hoping that I could get some help and such in the way of motorcycles and pointers for traveling the country.

Any help is welcome, and friendship is also appreciated. I pay in beer!! Laughing

Time to start planning , I've booked time off from work to include the weekend of 24-27 November 2017.
and preparing a bit of research for the trip across to Kiwiland . Who else can make it for the weekend ?

It will be great to get together with a few of our neighbours in NZ .
I'm working on the thoughts of a round trip to Mount Taranaki, something Rick has mentioned previously .This would require a possible overnighter somewhere.
Can anyone suggest cheap lodgings along the way .

One way to New Plymouth is 306 km and takes around 4 hours , the full return trip is 644km , and takes about 8 1/2 hours .

Hey Ed, the Greymouth street races are a hoot. Real up close and personal racing with access to the pits  for a good sticky beak too. Flying into Christchurch for the Aussie Krew would be the go with bike hire available there. Guess they wouldn't be bring their own K bikes for just a few days so best bet would be to fly in Christchurch Thursday and sort bikes. From Christchurch it's an outstanding ride over the Alps (Arthurs Pass) to Greymouth on the Friday. Racing Sat and Sun, and back to Chch on the Monday. Fly out Monday evening. Of course, with a few more days, a real fun itinerary could be planned...
Happy to sort accommodation and plan route for the weekend if needed.

Some great info there Richard.
Not sure of my own availability at this stage , a few other committments are moving in to the same time slot.
It would be good to see the Banner get a bit of time on Kiwi soil and shared amongst the Krew there .
There was a brief rumour that there may be some other Aussie Krew who could be headed your way , not sure how their plans are coming together.

Hi Ed. David and I were contemplating a tour of the south island but we've canned that idea. Looking at something closer to home now. Will get over to NZ at some stage tho. Cheers
