Hello .
Be gentle im new to this cylinder head/valve seats Icon_arrow
I read somewhere that k1 83 > 85 were built to run on leaded fuel. my bike is an 85 but i dont know if its a lead head version or the unleaded version . just bought the bike with no hand books or anything so was wondering if there was a way of using the engine number to find out . . also if it was a lead head would a head of a say 85 > fit to save the hassle of machining & sticking in hardend seats etc . cylinder head/valve seats Icon_arrow Im prety confident some one on here knows the answer cylinder head/valve seats Icon_biggrin

Give us the last 7 digits of your VIN #.
From that we can find the year/month of manufacturing.
I believe only the 83/84 were built to run on leaded fuel.

Two useful links for working out when your bike was made and whether it will run on unleaded. Looks like yours was built in July 1984, and is built for leaded. If you are only going to use the bike for leisure/pleasure riding you might be as well off using a lead substitute like Castrol Valvemaster Plus. A 250ml bottle will treat 250 liters of petrol and its very easy to measure.

Thank you, looks like your correct . .so does an 85 cylinder head/valve seats Icon_arrow unleaded head fit as a replacement then cylinder head/valve seats Icon_question

No, the only thing unleaded affects is the exhaust valves and valve seats. You must have harder valve seats because of the lack of lubrication / "cushioning effect" provided by the lead.
