Hello from Viking Land =) Wp_20111Hello everyone Very Happy
I am Bjornie from south of Norway, and I am the happy new owner of a K100-RT 1985,with plans to put the bike to good use this summer Smile
I am just back from yet another winter on Indian roads and the slightly different world of Royal Einfields...and after 11000 km,of which at least 5000 of those where done with the tention of a bike just about to fall apart one way or the other,I finally sat down in Goa and found the exact opposite,a good lucking BMW K100-RT with just over 35000 on the meter for sale in Norway and after a quick look and a short test drive, found it to be as good as described and bought it =) I promptly jumped om it and drove the 700 km to my place in fairly freezing conditions without mishap,so quite happy with it all.

I still feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of cables, fairings etc compared to the Bullets and Himalaya's I have been dealing with earlier, but Im quickly falling in love with my flying brick, which still performes quite well,it has a very slight sound coming from the back brakes once in a while, but nothing is vibrating, and the disc does not feel warm,so I hope its just some dust or something, the clutch might want to be adjusted soon and yeah,a bit of this and a bit of that, but for a 32 year old bike I find it quite amazing to ride on.
My plan is to take it for a stroll to Germany next week, and when there try to find a mechanic that knows these bikes well for a check up,so if anyone have a tips for good mechanic with fair prices,I will be very happy if you share the knowledge Hello from Viking Land =) 112350

I am very happy to discover this forum and to connect with other K-Brick flyers and hope to meet some of you when driving through Europe from next week  Laughing

Welcome to the forum too.

That's a nice K so go to the portal/home page and check out what to do if you have just bought a K.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, Ks are not like other bikes but some tasks are incredibly simple.

The fairing panels when you get to know them are easy to deal with, learn the sequence and they are not so bad at all. What's really good is to be with someone maybe for a day who knows Ks and just take them off. Even the RT is easy to service and get at the components. Brakes are easy enough to service or change pads.

Greetings Bjornie wellKome to the forum. You will find plenty of friendship and advice here. One other option for finding a mechanic would be to ask on the flyingbrick.de forum as many of them are from Germany and surrounding area.
All the best for your trip.

Hi Bjørnie!

Seems like a nice bike you got there. I just finished a complete resturation and rebuild of a K100rs into a custom bike. The bike was stripped down and i changed everything that could be a problem in the future.

Clutch, o-ring and main seal on the outputshaft, rubber inlet manifoilds, breeding hose, overhault waterpump, temp sensor, new electric fan, thermostat, brake lines, pads, and a lot more.

If you need some info or tips just contact me. And yes, i speak norwegian Smile

Hello Bjornie

Welcome and definately a nice bike! As it happens, I spent three weeks last year riding through the Himalayas on a Royal Enfield and werewasi (another forum member) did the same the year before. Interesting times!
