When I got this bike the tank was full of this ancient fuel .It was this murky orange brow colored liquid and I knew that I needed to replace the entire fuel delivery system. So,I drained it then cleaned out the crud with a scraper and stiff brushes using kerosene as a solvent. I got it pretty clean ,had to work hard at some of the hardened crud but it came off.I was left with a clean tank with this orange film.I washed it out with Mr Clean full strength but it wouldn't touch it.I thought about it all winter long as I gathered the parts to do this job and today I decided to clean it with this phosphoric acid solution used to wash truck bodies. It worked like a charm and now I'm ready to put all new stuff in the tank. Here are some photos from before during and after. I have replaced the lines going down to the pressure regulator, cleaned the injectors, the injector rail, the air filter, and gave it fresh oil.Next it's the pump, filter, and gauge sender. In the last photo you can see a line with a bit of hose still on it up top to the rear of the fill hole . Can anyone tell me
what goes there?
