I've just removed my tyres to get my wheels powder coated, and the rear was FULL of this nasty green, gritty, dirty sludge.

First thoughts were rust and a water leak.
Second thoughts, the puncture prevention green slime, with the above.

So, from the photos, does it look like something worth worrying about, or is it just point no.2?

And also, is it worth using this green slime anyway?

Cheers

Yeah, I'd say Slime (or similar product to stop punctures etcetera).

The tyre changing people hate it as it's a pain to clean. I have it in my pushbike tyres but not my motorcycle's tyres.

Check out the vids on Youtube about Slime (the product).

Easy enough to repair a puncture on the road. Considering the mess it's made, i wouldn't bother with it.

If you didn't put it in (previous owner?) perhaps it was used to "repair" an actual puncture.
Either way, not nice!

perhaps it was used to seal a tyre to rim leak

which seems to be very prevalent ..

I suggest hit the rim severely with acetone and a cloth and clean off all the rubber crap still attached to the aluminium rim ...

works for me ..!!

If it's brand name "SLIME" it should be water soluble. They might have had it in there to balance the wheel.

+1 on Slime.

Tire guys hate it because it makes such a mess.  A local tire shop that does car tires adds $20 per tire when they encounter Slime when doing a tire change to cover cleaning the machine.

The local motorcycle dealer charges extra when you have Dynabeads or Slime because of  the cleanup time after they do your tire.
