My recent K1100LT purchase has a brand new looking Michelin Macadam 50 tyre on the rear. 

I can't find any reference to it in anything vaguely current. 

Am I correct in assuming that it is a very old model, and therefore likely to be not a good thing to leave on when I get it running?

Last one did exit the production line around 10 years ago.

Many thanks for the info, Inge. It will do to take up the space between the wheel and the ground for now, but will be replaced before it goes on the road. 

A pity to throw away an unused tyre, but we can't afford to have dodgy tyres.

Didn't think I could find one, but a bit of research said that before 2000 it was 3 digits. 298 now makes sense! I presume February 1998. 

Confirmed that I won't be using it on the road. 


Gaz, I should do a bit of excavating. 2 bikes outside under covers to make working space for the 1100. Any spare mining machines available, with automatic support systems incorporated?
