I did that once. Winter lasted a bare 6 weeks that year and there has not seen one since.

But we haven't even had the first frost yet....unseasonably mild at the moment and it'll be a long time until the end of winter of you stop this early!

will let you know tomorrow, we were supposed to be somewhere else that weekend, but I have a feeling the interest is waning, so we might be there.
I will be laying my bike up for a month or two to do some work on her, so this will be  my last time for a while as I only have one bike...

I would like to join you all.
Want to get out and about with some fellow K riders.
But unfortunately my bike will be off the road for some repairs and im working nights at the weekend on the doors.

If anyone wants to ride round Northampton town centre after 11pm and put the little 125 idiots to shame feel free.
I wold much prefer to see some decent bike on bridge street than the usual idiots.

It would be rude of me not to, once again.. Unlike you posh lot, all my bikes stay on the road year round  

Also I want to see what a normal amount of drive train lash looks like..

Sadly, I can't make it this time around. 

My bikes are firmly on the road (another all year rounder!) but unfortunately I'm not free that weekend to go travelling.

(I know it wasn't your fault that the waitress served you with the breakfast that I'd ordered 15 minutes before you even arrived!! At least it was worth waiting for).

We will be there.

Takes us about 50 mins, a nice pre winter ride out for Dawn to check her winter gear .

 We are travelling around Kent in early December so she needs to be confident that she will be warm.

I get the luxury of the engine heat.. a real nuisance during the summer, a joy any other time..

 Table for two and breakfast to match..

Then we can watch Snod checking backlash ..

and checking his tyres for nails......

I ride all year round , just choose to do the necessary bits during the xmas period..

Steering bearings, new master cylinders, brake and fuel hoses, 1100 throttle bodies, final drive main bearings, quite a list. but she is worth it......cheaper than a shiny new bike, and I dont have to keep cleaning her too!...

Totally agree re. keeping these bikes on the road...

I won't ride anything post Millennium...too Chinese.

And when I hear about owners problems with 'modern' BMW's:

Terrible quality, indifferent greedy 'Dealers', dodgy Warranties.

The last new bike I bought was in the mid 1990's, never again!

Plus, our bikes are so much more 'characterful', they have stories to tell

Last new bike I bought was a 1976 Bonneville.

Load of crap mechanically , but looked  a million dollars.

Current new bikes have too many gadgets that go wrong,  poor quality castings, saw a 2003 bonneville whose engine cases were nothing short of disgusting, and it was for sale at CMC motorcycles.  should have been parked out the back in a skip.

It is not just BMW that are guilty of poor quality 

I need a bike that is reliable, has good basic engineering, comfortable and has a turn of speed when required, oh and I can get any spare part .

The age of the bike is irrelevant to me.

The k100 LT gives me all of that, she may not be fashionable or cool,
but she will still outlive most .

Dad's taxi is booked or rather 'Dad the Driver' to drive a van to Swindon with this beastie on board

 

Aiden bought this a couple of weeks ago (another booking for Dad the Van Driver) to do a four day track day in Cartegena later this month, it is a rather nice ZX6R, which will be quicker than his A2 restricted SV650, so the ZX will hopefully be an entertaining and lively track mount.  It has to be delivered to the transport company on Saturday for its journey to Spain, hence Dad being roped in to drive a van.

Have a good meet and post up some pics!

Well, that was an interesting ride to Six Hills.

Got as far as the Fosse Way. and noticed 5k revs at 70mph,   hmm not normal.

5k revs at 60mph too, so clutch is slipping,,, crap.

Do not need to do a clutch job at the moment, too many other jobs  on my list..

Was intending to go to Sportsbike at Boston too, hey ho.

We managed to get the last breakfast,   would not have been very happy being told there was no more food...

especially having travelled 50 miles for breakfast... 

Need find somewhere bigger that doesnt run out of food !!

Anyway, food eaten, then time to lay under bike in the rain to slacken clutch actuating  arm a tad .

Cannot remember the last time I had to spanner a bike away from home...and an audience too !

The clutch now working as it should, we rode to Boston to get Dawn a heated jacket, and then home.

Now I need to fit that 50 amp alternator to the bike to keep her toasty...

The rain only eased ten miles from home, but a good ride none the less.

I do have some doubts about this place, as a Cafe for a bike meet.

Having nowhere to put helmets and jackets is a drag, and it *is* cramped.

So... there's an excellent place in Nottingham, called the GB Cafe.

We've had several bike meet-ups there over the past six months or so.

Free parking (as is the case for motorcycles in Nottingham), and good food.

Hi David,
We wondered how you were getting on as we peered through the rain being steadily swept off the van windscreen all the way to Wootton Bassett and back again.  Kwack is now packed on a stillage with many other bikes ready for its journey by truck to Spain next week.

Probably wont be able to do the December due to work commitments and needing to get the Brick MOT'd around then, definitely a destination for the Spring though.
