Hey folks.
Im a new owner of a 1989 K100 rs.
Sadly the bike had been stripped before i got her and is sporting a cheap chinese front headlight that is so crud i can ride after dusk.
Im going to be buying a naked fairing on another k100 this week and swapping it over to my bike.

I will also be converting the bars to the more high rise ones off a lt so i dont have to lean so far forward.

If you are getting LT handlebars you need some other parts:
LT/RT clutch cable.
LT/RT throttle cable.
LT/RT front brake hose from master cylinder to the connection at the centre of the forks.
Not sure about the 'Choke' cable.

The switch gear you just wriggle about but make sure all is working before bolting everything up and putting tank etc back. Easy to accidentally leave a connection undone.

I changed my bars early last year and got the replacement from Motorworks. I don't have heated grips and the ones I got were for heated grips. We just cut the end tabs off and all was well. If you plan on or have the heated grips the bar ends are different.

If you are buying an RT/LT fairing , they are the same, you need a lot of little bits and pieces and the spider mounting bracket.

While you are in this check out the cooling fan. They die and replacement is a radiator off job so it could be an easier task just now.

If you need RS fairing parts then I have the lot off my 1991 RS in black. Includes headlight too. Only bits that have gone are the fuel and water temperature gauges. 
Not sure how you would get them from France to the UK apart from taking a holiday down this way and using my garage!

And you would not be the first! We have now had visitors from all over the world, and they come back time and time again. 88 is on an aeroplane from Ireland heading for here as we speak.

Having been down there myself I can thoroughly recommend that as a course of action!!

Strike a deal on the parts because you will have them all in the one place matching colours etc. BobT's RS is a very nice machine but the locality is even nicer for an extended bike trip.

No we don't. As I said it is not a business, money does not change hands, and so does not need a website, we prefer to spend time helping people arrange their trip and showing them the best places to visit and eat. 
Is it possible to look at a facebook page without being on facebook? I don't know the answer to that one.

But I do love that area of France...

88 and myself had a discussion about plans for next year and September week 2 and 3 next year looks like a plan.

St Leon sur Vezere is the likely spot, its got a municipal camp site and its very close to BobT.

May or September are best, otherwise much too hot for K bikes. Will's son has state exams in June so May is out.

I don't do this facebonk and titter and stuff either.

Facebook does not bite, attack anyone or divulge any information that you have not told it. It is a very good way to keep in touch with people all over the world though, and can also be a mine of information.

Very welKome indeed; lot's of good info over here -as you can already see in the above replies.
I can only confirm the tips already given; also check the central 'ground' (underneath the tank on the lefthand-side of the centre frametube.)
Loosen the screw, clean all connections and the area around the screw, a 'swoosh' of Deoxit -or anything like it- and reconnect.
I usually take all connectors under there and de-connect them a few times to make sure the contacts are clean and properly fitted.
(Years of heat, collecting dust and eventually a not so handy P.O. can cause strange effects... )

Olaf, since those photos Jude has gone from the F800ST to a Ducati ST2 and I am riding the Ducati 848 most of the time, but we have pictures at the same place.

I have the longer cables on order but i didnt realise i would need a longer brake hose.
I will get one ordered asap.

Im going to view this other k100 this week and hopefully have it back at mine by the weekend.
Cant wait to get the proper naked "C" fairing fitted so i can start getting it ready for paint.
