Finally have a bike again after many years.
'95 K75 RT that found me this summer with 15K miles.
Low miles but at least a couple of them seem to be on the mirrors, faring, etc.
No worries, I am a sailing nut and therefore am skilled with FRP repairs.

Back in the 70's I was a motorcycle courier in Washington DC on /2s, then rode my '71 R75 as my primary transportation and after rebuilding the transmission took it on a jaunt out to the Grand Canyon and back.
Moved up to a new R90 in '76. and sold it several years later after realizing that I was riding with autopilot "On".
(Woke up on a highway doing about 75 mph and couldn't remember which road I was on. ?@#!\?!)

When my son reached 18, he announced that he wanted to buy a bike.
His mother said 'not while I'm paying the bills'.
Within one month after graduating from college he had purchased a R100RT.
I have been living vicariously ever since until now.

Well, I have some minor things to take care of this winter:  Engine Backfires on deceleration, Fuel Level Warning Light, Speedometer, possibly ABS, and of course repairing the cracks in the fairing.
So, I thought I would join up to be able to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge on the site.

I hope I will be able to contribute at least as much as I benefit.

Best regards,           Rob

WelKome! Very Happy

Nothing to fix on the backfiring thing. All K75s will backfire a little on moderate to heavy engine braking. The bike will "teach" you not to do that fairly quickly.

BMW actually produced a few K75s in 1996 - police ones only though.

Duck, Chocolate:
Your warm welcome is much appreciated!

When I first came across this bike in its rough cosmetic condition with only 15K miles, and realized that it was the last year of production (i.e. the most fully developed version), I was shocked and grabbed ahold.

Duck: Thank you very much for the heads up about the backfires.
These are really severe like the report from a 50 caliber round.
So, I will probably learn to use the brakes rather than the engine for braking.

Chocolate:
Thanks as well.
Yes, Greensburg is quite a nice sized town here in Pennsylvania.
The picture you shared shows the dome of the Court House that is the center of government for Westmoreland County (one of many counties in Pennsylvania).
This is typical of the 'County Seats' for all the main counties in Pennsylvania, many of which were build at a similar time in history.
My wife and I are planning to visit Munchen and SW Deutschland next spring.

Looking forward to great riding in the fall!

Best regards,

Interesting to hear.

If you pass Kassel in Germany give me a call, or a chat here.
We will arrange something.

Cheers
