Hi I want to finish my cafe racer k100 1983 put the small speedometer , seat, focus, etc . I know it's difficult to adapt a small speedometer with your help there if I can get it .

I have not done it and know very little about it....but when I got a replacement instrument panel late last year I was amazed at how heavy it is. Scope for some weight saving there.
 
But there are a lot of threads here about 'Acewell' units and how to do it and what to watch for.

While the BEP 'lunchbox' certainly looks the goods (easy to use, sturdy housing, etc), keep in mind that Robmack from Canada makes something similar, simpler, in a coupla varieties based on your needs, and for far less dosh.

One needs to be thick skinned around here. Great guys all round and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Anyway last weekend I took the K and Kamping gear out for a fabulous camping weekend after finding I could finish work at lunchtime Friday and no commitments until Tuesday morning and decent weather forecast with it. The tent and camping stuff were all sitting there ready to go and in half an hour bike had tyres pumped and was packed up and bike gear on to roll out the gap and tent pitched by 7pm. [Saturday morning was fun, finding a nail in rear tyre but a very helpful (Marcus) Doherty Motorcycles in Waterford sorted that and another one he found in it in short time.]

The K can now fit everything inside the panniers and top box with nothing strapped on and no tank bag. And that includes a 3/4 season sleeping bag, a new chair courtesy of Lidl last week [seemingly a Helinox copy], a new folding sleeping mat and a bbq. If I bring the tarp it will fit too but poles are too long to fit inside so they would have to be strapped on. The only extra thing I would have for a trip of 2 or 3 weeks would be some extra spare clothes but a lighter sleeping bag if it was France would make room for that. Admittedly that's 2 Krauser K2 panniers at 42 litres each and a Hepco & Becker 40 litre top box. Spare bike bits like bulbs, tools, puncture repair kit, lock and bits and pieces all fit in fairing boxes etc etc.

Its just a matter of finding the right size gear and it does not have to be expensive. In fact it should not be expensive so that it's easily replaced along the way if anything gets lost/stolen/broken.

No need for the Villeroy & Boch sidecar at all!!

Currently plotting a trip to France for May 2017, not sure of dates but keen to avoid excess heat so last week of May would seem to be my limit or else end of August/September. I like May simply because of longer daylight hours.

Oh, I did once have a café racer and before I got the first K top of my list was a Moto Guzzi Le Mans and a Ducati 860. My LT is likely to become a café racer too.............

Ah yes, nice times those, travelling to work in the car with my Dad as these nice relatively new at the time big Candy Gold Honda fours would pass us filtering through the traffic. 'I'm going to get one of those' was my line every morning. Then I moved away from home, commuting a 170 mile run at weekends on a CD175. Then one day about 2 months later I rang my dad and said 'remember those big gold Hondas passing in the traffic', well I just got one'. Admittedly the ones passing us were mostly the CB750 and when I tried one of them I was too short but the shop had another nice big gold CB500-4 which did fit perfectly, sort of. My Dad thought it a bit much for me and offered to buy me a car which led me to reply if I wanted a car I would have bought one as this thing cost more than a car. Was just before my Dads 50th birthday and he said can I take it for a ride. Which he did, passing by as he said it does 100 nicely, no helmet, nothing like that and was good to see the effect on him. But I did turn it into a café racer with a bolt on carrier and top box that took my gear for camping back then. Sadly all my old photos were destroyed a few years ago, some great ones too. I reckon that bike rode every road in Ireland while I had it. Just looking at the K last weekend and I realise its done 10,000 miles in last 6 months.

I bought a new Kawasaki Z1A in 1974 (trading in a crap 8 month old Triumph 750 Tiger). I was living in Essex at the time and one week end rode it back to Liverpool. My dad asked to borrow the keys for a ride. Off he went with my mum on the back. He returned 3 hours later and said "It gets up to 130mph quickly" !

He was 46 at the time, and I was concerned he wouldn't be able to handle it, but then he used to ride a Vincent Black Shadow, so I should have known better.

He did the same in 1978, then 50, when I turned up on my brand new BMWR100RS, at least he waited until it was run in before going for a spin.  

I'll be 63 this year and wouldn't think twice of taking any bike out for a spin.

Dad's genes definitely. Mine when I was very young had a Royal Enfield 350 and before that a Velocette which he regretted selling. I remembered those, especially the Velocette sound.

His dad rode bikes too and had many stories and knew many riders. Unbeknownst to me at the time my grandad was also hiding my uncle's Norton Atlas that he used to race, having told my aunt that he sold it as she didn't like bikes. It spent its time in my granddads garage under a big white sheet to conceal it from prying eyes. No one was ever allowed in there. My uncle bought a Honda 50 which he proudly and religiously rode over to see his dad on Saturdays, complete with all his bike gear. My aunt always thought he was being so safe. Except when he would get to my granddads the Norton was already warmed up ready to go. Even better up the road from his house was the Sally Gap and Wicklow mountains. So my uncle always came home real happy after his outing on his Honda 50. After my grandad passed away they made alternative arrangements and it went to an uncle's house where it again remained hidden. 
 
My son got a dose of that when after buying a bike on his 21st he discovered I had one he never knew about. He got more when we went off on a trip on the bikes after I got the LT and we left Kerry for Kinsale. Having raced back thinking he 'would be there half an hour ahead of the old man' he was a bit gobsmacked to find a familiar bike in front of him as he reached his destination. His only childhood experience of a motorbike was as a 3 year old when two of my brothers came down to stay and were on a Yamaha 750. They took him for a short ride sitting on the petrol tank and he never forgot it.

Time for reminiscing can be nice sometimes.

My earliest memories were going out with my two sisters in the three seater side car with mum and dad on the Brough Superior SS100 pulling it. I spent my childhood around bikes as dad used to ride for the army in the ISDT and other things. At one time he did a stint as a dispatch rider in Germany.
When I turned up on my brand new R75/7 in 1977 at the age of 18, he shot off across the fields on it at great speed.
