Thanks Tom - same to you Mate.

I was up your way very briefly earlier in the month. I caught the red eye from Perth to Sydney and had the pleasure of my east coast K100 firing up the instant that I blipped the start button - and that is with the thing having stood since my June ride when I met up with you all too briefly....
I had removed fuse 3 for this lay over - to remove the current flow to the clock - and this seems to have made a significant difference. Hard to say for sure as it is a different battery to the one that died during the previous 11 month lay over!
This time I stayed over with friends in Gosford and then went up via my mate in East Seaham - spent the second night in Glouster. I really enjoyed the Thunderbolts Way - took it slowly on the back roads as surface wasn't great in places - spent night three in Texas (due west of RickG). In Toowoomba I attended to the Bulb monitoring unit problem that was causing lack of power to the tail light - turned out to be a dry joint on the printed circuit. Wish I had spent more time studying the wiring diagram before pulling the right hand switch assembly apart - but guess it was good experience. What I found interesting was that the bmu monitors the tail light (as well as the indicator lights), but doesn't monitor the front park light circuit.
I also drilled some small holes in the aluminium mounting bracket that is welded to the fuel tank, to try and stop the cracks which are developing from each edge. This is the old style mount ('84 RS) and I've know about the problem for a while - wish I had got around to drilling the holes to take the stress of the root of the fatigue cracks a bit earlier....
Starting Monday morning, I headed south from Brisbane via Ray Peake in Wonglepong and retraced my route to Sydney via New England Highway from Tenterfield. Amazed at how much of this route was etched in my brain after I rode it in June 2015 when I had to keep going through the night and FROZE. December daytime riding was far far more pleasant and I camped out in Tamworth. Tuesday was a perfect day for riding although mid day on the central coast was a touch warm.
I've repositioned my bike from level 3 to level 2 in the P1 domestic airport car park as the authorities had installed a sign saying 'no motorbikes' above the spot which my K100 has enjoyed for so long.

Hope to catch up with you in 2017.

All the best

Everyone have a great time during the festive season. For those in the north make sure that Santa does not get snowbound and those in this part of the world be aware that if the temperatures continue at the same rate, Santa will lose some weight because of overheating.
It is times like this that we reflect on what keeps us going and enjoying the friendship and of course the Ks.

Cheers Tom,

It has been one heck of a year - thrills and spills for sure, but a year I'll certainly never forget.

It was fantastic to get down under way back in April and meet and ride with you and the rest of the amazing Krew and I'm now really looking forward to joining the Irish Eccentrics for their Christmas brunch in just 10 days time.

Wishing you and all our forum friends around the world a very Happy Christmas and a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Cheers
Paul

Thanks to our great mate Tom for kicking off this thread.

I'd like to add my best wishes to all forum inmates around the world for an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas/New Year. You'll need the rest because we have to do it all again (the riding, repairing and socialising) in 2017.

Some of us here already have some projects in mind to keep us busy.

Christmas in part is a time of giving and receiving gifts.

While material K items as well as good advice and information feature often, for me the most valuable gift, both given and received, is the gift of friendship.

Thanks to all the Krew for this most valuable gift, especially to the members who I have had the pleasure to meet in person. I might even be able to catch up with an Irish Eccentric or two between 24 June and 2 July 2017.  Smile

Bill

Tom! Thanks for that! As has been stated many times before...as Bill said, the friendship and Kamaraderie is to me what this is all about! I'm fully Kognizant that I am no longer a K-owner, but will be in spirit for the rest of my days.

Everybody, have a great and safe Christmas, and New Year! All the best.

Rickmeister.
