Very Happy Hi Ian !
There are several topics on this forum about the issue; just make a search for 'speedo sensor'.
Often it is a loose (or corroded) connector.
Good luck..

You can use an electric soldering iron the 50hz gives a signal of 100 pulses per secons which is 61KPH.
Hold the iron element area not the tip very close to the bottom of the sensor when it is out of the rear drive

This varies by soldering iron. Before I started using Karumba I found that some soldering irons put out a sufficient magnetic field while some do not.

If you have a good multimeter, switch it to the 'less than one volt AC' setting. Unplug the speedo sensor under the relay box (may be easy to get at under the righthand sidepanel - it's a two-pin connector with a brown and yellow wire) and put the multimeter probes in the socket. Start the bike up and pull it through the gears by hand - if the pickup is behaving itself you'll see the voltage climb from zero to about 0.245 volts AC in top gear at about 3000rpm. Just make sure the rear tyre isn't in contact with the ground! Very Happy

As Dai says...but the rear brake switch connector is similar and nearby so trace the wire all the way up to the connector.

The rear brake switch connector have round pins.
The speedo sensor connector have flat pins arranged as a T.

Just checked Flights from Rygge to Dublin (return) -  €34 in September.

I will probably spend more on fuel during the weekend run.

There is always a bed for Inge in Dublin (and maybe a few how to test speedo sensor 905546712 )

One alternate method is to place a 9V battery between thumb (+) and forefinger (-) of your left hand whilst sticking your tongue into the connector of the speedo sensor. If it does nothing for you it's not your fault.  Wink
