Hi my name is Gage and I have owned a 1991 K100rs since December 2015. It was bought as a project bike after it had been backed into while parked in a previous owners garage. It has 12k miles and is equipped with a Luftmeister competition turbo kit. Right now it is torn apart and under construction. Will update the forum with any progress. ;BMW; Hi from Louisville Kentucky 112350Hi from Louisville Kentucky Img_1711

Wow that's a nice one.

I was only talking about those turbo kits with someone last weekend and can only imagine what it will be like when you have it running. Pity you are so far away.

But anyway you will get some good info and input from all here so don't be afraid to ask questions. Some of the guys have incredible knowledge about the cutting edge side of the Ks while some of us just ride and enjoy them and let someone else take care of them.

That photo looks like a spare K frame on the trailer too......

Keep us posted with lots of photos.....

Hi! I lived in Pikeville for almost a year back in 2002/3, so Louisville is reasonably familiar to me.

Welcome!

I lived in Louisville from 7-10 years old back in the early 60's in the Hikes Point area.

Actually right across Hunsinger Ln. from the subdivision Cassius Clay lived in at the time.

Saturday mornings saw me riding up to the car wash in his '64 fueled convertble Corvette and getting it washed at the same time he had his convertble Caddy washed.

He would pick flies out of the air with thumb and forefinger and do other tricks for the kids.

Anyway - fond memories of Louisville....

Post lots of pics of the turbo setup please...

I already love the activity of this forum! I plan on keeping everyone updated on the progress of this bike. i also plan on making some short films showcasing the bike when its in better condition. And to the person who noticed the spare frame, that was there and is now on the bike due to the old frame being slightly tweaked when i got it. Seller included the spare frame in the deal. Separately I want to give special thank you to member Jimk for convincing me to join this forum. I am excited to get my k bike back in perfect running condition and to share it with fellow enthusiasts.

Check the turbo first. That's what I did when I got the turbo K75.  If you don't know a lot about turbos (I didn't) there are plenty of websites out there that will show you how/what to inspect.

Anyway welcome the KnutHouse.

Sounds like you are just going to fit right in.

We are now taking bets on how long it takes you to get a second K!.  Seems to me you got a good dose of Kpox that just hasn't manifested itself yet.

Duck is nicely set up with K75 turbo and there are a few out there. Very impressive too. K engines have great torque and have proven themselves pretty much bulletproof. 100k miles is nothing to them. Just keep eye on the valve clearances. Other stuff like timing chains etc are a cinch to get at.

If you are running turbo and find yourself running hot Motorbike Mike races a K100 and has a very instructive series of posts on a water/oil pump upgrade using standard BMW parts off later Ks. Its entirely possible yours might give up ghost in time as its a common side effect on bikes that have sat unused for years. Its easy to get at but requires care in doing it.

This also happens seals that harden over time due to non use. I changed footpeg rubbers a few months back and was amazed at the difference even that made.

Somehow you should make your way over here, we have some nice K roads!

Found your way here. Good.
It's a good mob!

Hi mob.
Wish the Best to all!
I've missed speaking with you folks.
Bike's not running.  Kinda trying to figure out whether to fix it or sell it to a new forum member. Smile
Had a fall down in the wet. Collarbone. Fine now.

Regards,
JimK
