What's in my tool kit...probably too much but here it is.
A 10mm drive socket plus 17mm socket for rear wheel.
10 12 13 19mm ring/OE spanner
A 10-6mm socket reducer plus 7 8 9 10 12 13mm.
A flexi bar for the socket so it reaches tight places at an angle like inside relay box [longer fuel lines so I don't have to take off the tank to access it].
A set of ball end Allen keys ideally the longer ones so check your coil cover, front brake master cylinder, plug cover plate, footrest hanger, front axle pinch bolts, brake calipers, sump plug, sump oil filter cover
Small ratchet screw driver with detachable bits for flat and pozi.
Plug spanner
Mole grips. I can use this to extend the socket ratchet for the rear wheel if needed......
Small electrical pliers
Spare spark plug.
Junior hacksaw blade in a holder.
I have a small tapered metal rod that works for getting front axle out, adjusting my rear shock preload and for punching out brake pins.
If you have never had your tank off check the connectors and se what kind are on the pipes. Some are not removable and I have changed them for ones off the R bikes so a screwdriver will open them. Odds are the fuel line swill be perished and hard and if you go at them they will crack. Maybe get a 1m length from BMW and the clips, you need 6 altogether and just have them in case of a leak.
Spare bulb kit as came from Lidl, its got its own plastic box and just added in spare fuses to it.
Cable ties [black]
Electrical Tape
Some spare wire
Connectors.
Oxford repair kit and gas cylinders.
All fits behind the seat.
I built it up from watching what was needed to do maintenance.
To be fair I have rarely needed any of it travelling but on trips I have left some maintenance items if I was under pressure and done them en route. Brake pad swaps, occasional oil transmission/final drive oil change, plug change and in one instance a fuel leak travelling was sorted.
