This type from the '99 1100 I'm taking out
Clutch Diaphragm Spring - Which One? 304092

OR

This type that came from an 8v engine I have that's supplying some bits.
Clutch Diaphragm Spring - Which One? 32020

I'll be using a near new friction plate that came from the 8v with the pressure plates from the 1100 (flat and good surface, the plates from the 1100 were cupped like Rick G has said; only gripping the outside edge of the friction plate).  Good thing I pulled this motor out, the clutch was starting to get oily though it had showed no signs of slipping yet.

I didn't know there were different diaphragm springs, any reason why?

Al

AFAIK the diaphrams are esentially the same but from experience I reckon the later type gives a softer feel and better clutch control. There is a lot more bend in the later type because the fingers are already curved where the straight fingers are far more liable to have almost no tension to the lever till it starts to engage then would have a tendency to snap out.

All the parts listings I've found have said they are interchangeable, so the curved one has been used.

The bike should be assembled and running on Saturday.
