Hello all! I recently purchased a 1985 K100RT with 77k miles to use a the basis of a cafe racer build -- inspired by the recent Handbuilt show here in Austin. I like the fact that it's a more unusual target for a custom bike build (there are so many custom R-bikes around here!). This bike had obviously been dropped on the right side, was missing some fairing pieces, no radio, etc. -- perfect for my purposes. I believe I'm the 5th owner (the 4th bought it to fix and flip it). I've already started stripping the bike down, cataloging parts that are still good that I won't need, and learning about how to do some of the basic maintenance work (lubing the splines, oil change, etc.).

The K-bike joins a 2016 BMW S1000XR for street riding and two dedicated race bikes - a 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R and a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250R as part of my stable.

Here is the bike right after I brought it home:

Thanks! I'm looking forward to starting my build thread in the cafe racer / custom build section (once enabled for that by the admin).
