Since I'm not getting any interest on my '91 K100rs.  I decided that I'll just make her a little prettier (my only real complaint).  My main fairing is pretty cracked and I like the look of the "standard" K75/K100.  Can anyone tell me what BMW part numbers make up the radiator cover.

If you have a set, I would love to talk to you about buying them.

If you have a good fairing for a K100, let me know about that too.

Cheers,

Kevin (aka HellFisTat)

Hiya . . . man . . . if you can get some side covers for the Rad. let us all know. They are in VERY hot demand. There is a thread here devoted top that subject. I too share the naked bike love (see my avatar) but, alas, could not sort out the radiator covers so resorted to painting all the bits black to match the bike

K75 parts won't fit a K100 due to the "extra" cylinder on a K100 and differences in frame angles/radiator position.

As noted, given the high number of owners with the "original" idea to turn their K100s into Cafe Racers there is a very high demand for those parts, making them very hard to find used.

The K100 radiator surround is three pieces. (K75 is two.) In primer the part numbers are:

Center: 46631450633
Left: 46631453155
Right:46631453156

And then there's the mounting hardware and radiator grill to consider.

Thanks to Duck's reply, I see that A&S BMW still shows them in may colors for the K100.  Their $105 usd a side.  I 'm heading to my local BMW shop to see if they can order them so I don't have to pay shipping.  $312 for the radiator front cover is a little too deep for me.  may have to scour eBay and see if I can modify the one from my RS.

Ride safe,

Hey Duck!

Thanks for the help and the offer.  Turns out there is a guy just down the road from me has one in his salvage yard.  I'm going to go down and see what they look like this weekend.

thanks.  he said they were in decent shape.  it's about 50 miles each way, but it's a nice ride.  who knows.  It will be a good excuse to leave work early and take a ride in the country.

83 and low humidity in NC at the end of July is unheard of

I would say there was a good market for someone to make up these parts in fiber glass to sell to inmates, I have a K1100 with out the fairing & side car attached & would like to fit these parts as well. Krauser made a kit years ago I am led to believe.
It would not take much to make mounting parts at all.

I know a guy that will do the fibreglass work but needs a set of panels to copy and they are hard to find let alone borrow to copy.  Motorworks had a complete set a while ago for about 150 quid.  I saw a complete set a while ago on ebay in US and they went up for $400 and lasted a few hours.
When I saw your post PJ I thought you were going to say you had one or two. Laughing

Heh . . . no . .  we already have a thread on this subject.

Dismal fail unfortunately.

What I am working on is side panels that cover the injectors, up to the tank and right back to the side cover and the same on the other side. I have the prototype in cardboard at the mo and am just waiting to get time to source the sheet plastic. My bike is black so the panels wont look too out of place (I hope) if this does not work for me then I am more than happy to just leave it as it is.

Will post pics when its done on my main thread

Here's a K75 injector cover I made from 1/16" aluminum.  I wouldn't do it all of the way back to the side cover as that would porbably trap more heat - which is enough of a problem on K bikes already.

Thanks for this. But . . . are you referring to the heating of the rider . . . or the over heating of the bike.

If it is rider heat I need to be wary of then, from what I read elsewhere, in this forum and elsewhere, if the bike is naked and the temp is around 30 C or lower then that's not too much of an issue, which it wouldn't be for me. Our summer5s here in NZ are reasonably tame and bearable (I had airheads in past times, waay too hot on the feet for summer here) but . . .  if it is the engine which might over heat I need to know.

I would be wanting to fit a temperature gauge on the dash somewhere if that is the case.

Please advise

Thanks

Rider heat at the knees/thighs.  Engine will be fine.

I suppose you could always trim it back later or remove it in the summer if your knees/tank get too hot.

Yep . . . it is the tank which would concern me.

I did notice it a bit warm on a couple of days last summer but we had temps of 32 - 33. Unusual for North island and only happens here about 1 - 2 weeks of the year

thanks for your swift response

That appears to be the front grille and mesh only. No 'sides' are shown or listed. It's a fair start (price and quality) if you've a desire.

Yes... For some reason, which seems a great shame to me, the seller has split them to sell, a bidder could win the centre piece and grill and then be outbid on the 2 side pieces.

I was curious to see whether the later non-US K100 radiator grille and side panels were still available from BMW and am pleasantly surprised to see they are. The part numbers are 46 63 2 308 103 & 46 63 2 308 104 &
46 63 2 309 787. The pieces cost, in prime, left hand side, USD$69.25. RHS $86.14, and the rad grill is $79.39. The ancillaries are also readily available. This is not too terribly much if building a clean and correct naked from an RS/RT/LT. All parts are in the Dingolfing warehouse.

The K100 II have a K75 tank which have different mounting for the radiator
covers, so you need that too (If you want just plug and play).

.....or scratch the head (or something) and make your own mountings.

For the non-K75 tanks the side panels are still available in das Vaterland's warehouse at US$121.74 each, in prime. There are 49 lefts and 92 rights available. Alas, the centre grille panel is unobtainium.

They sure are and in the best of condition, they don't often come as good.

Thanks, I figured they were.
I will have to post them on the for sale forum as I no longer want to go that route.
Trying to clean out parts as I have bought a couple of parts bikes last year.

Two Wheels Better wrote:I was curious to see whether the later non-US K100 radiator grille and side panels were still available from BMW and am pleasantly surprised to see they are.
