 My seat cover is starting to split.
Guess it's time to look to getting it re-done

Any of you have any recommendations as to who , what, where I might go
in Ireland or the UK

http://www.rk-leighton.co.uk/. These guys really are the masters - I can't remember them NOT being around. A mate had the seat on his Commando recovered (after one of my cats wrecked it ) and the end result was better than OEM.

No promises or commitments yet, but will be in Europe for June and July, and hope to get over there in that time. With my wife this time, so will be in a car.

Finally decided to go for broke and replace my seat cover as it was showing signs of too much excitement . 
My last recover was done in 2010 by a professional auto upholsterer, it lasted 6 months, before showing signs of poor workmanship. 
so I followed Charlies excellent example and got a Dis-covers do it yourselfer from ebay . approx. $62 delivered to Oz from the UK . 
Mine is only attached around the underneath edges. 

Not in my opinion a high grade vinyl , but will see me out for a while as my ride time is limited these days . 
Check out Charlies finished job , came up trumps .

Just curious, which model Discovers cover did you use?  I bought one from them that I thought was for my RT's seat and there was no way it was going to fit properly.  Thought it was for the big comfort saddle, but it was all wrong.  Was a friggin nightmare to return with customs and postage.  Both Tony and I took it in the backside on that transaction.

I purchased the k100LT version for my LT comfort seat , it looks like Charlie used the same on his RT, but he may have the comfort seat too.
you are best to check your seat styling before ordering . frame designation could be confusing . My frame says "RS".

My K100RS is in need of new seat. The vinyl is hard, as is the foam. I live in Bowral, just down the road from you. If you don't mind me asking, who does your work and roughly how much are they charging?

Mine cost about $400, but it needed a complete rebuild as the old seat had been mucked around with, and I needed it to be built a bit lower for my short legs. 

Worth every cent for custom build and long ride comfort.

Prices will vary according to what is needed. Just a recover is much cheaper, but he still makes the cover from scratch with your choice of material (and colour).

He comes highly recommended. I inquired at 2 M/C shops in Sydny a while back and both refered me to him. Not done that yet but it's on the list for next year. I think mine will need a rebuild. Also, I've been waiting till I got my RS bars on and now I'm thinking of going lower, so seating possie will change again.

I think about $380.00 Chris , he had to do a little work on the foam , the seat has different densities of foam in the core , the firmer stuff ( closer to the seat base ) had rotted in mine , very happy with the result , I got my original seat fixed after using a Corbin dual canyon for 10-15 years , the ACM seat is better

I had an almost identical seat done as John R at ACM.
I visited Peter and he was very helpful.
A few years later I did put a firmer base layer of foam in and raised the seat height slightly using the ACM cover.
Recommended.

Hi Dave,

Mick in Goulburn does mail order as well - send him your seat with the pictures he specifies on his site and he sends it back done. I'm sure others do too. 

BTW, I know Mick from my rebuild and through the local classic riders club, but have no other connection to him. A friend had a CX500 seat done by him, (my recommendation) and he reproduced the original moulded pattern in stitching - brilliant job, and friend very happy.

There's someone in Meath De-Rodster, can't be too far from you but a cover off ebay and Charlies thread makes it look like a DIY job. I know a really good guy in Waterford too if that's not too far.

I'll get back to you on the person in Meath (Ashbourne IIRC).
