The deed is done. Took the car, trailer and daughters over to Ireland for a long weekend and to pick up Stephens K100LT from Dublin.
Despite the early hour, Stephen made us all a slap up full Irish breakfast when we dropped by to drop off the trailer at a very anti social hour on Saturday morning. Then had a beautiful scenic drive down through the Sally gap - had the road to ourselves, apart from a couple of cyclists. Oh to have been on a K....
(Just the sort of road my GPS would pick....)
After a couple of days of sight seeing and horse riding (definitely not the same as being on a K), we headed back to Dublin to pick up the trailer (I left it at Stephen's to avoid the hassle of it following me all weekend) and load up my new bike. Stephen also sold me enough spares to nearly build another bike...or maybe, get my no. 1 donor bike back on the road again...
Loaded, secured and looking good...
As one adventure ends, so another begins...Stephen says a sad goodbye to his old bike, as I say hello to my new one
A short drive to the ferry at Dublin, a 3 ½ hour Irish Sea crossing and a one 5 ½ hour overnight drive later and my new baby is safely unloaded and stabled with her mate Heidi.
Running mates - I'm gonna need a bigger garage!
Now to complete the importation paperwork, get the MoT and insurance sorted and then get her registered back onto UK plates. Reckon that she will be given a "G" plate to align with her year, so she will probably be named "Gretel".
Thanks Stephen for your hospitality (again) and for passing on a great bike. I can't wait to get on her and ride...
