Hello,
After30 years not having a street ride (whole family road off-road bikes) my wife wanted to get a Harley (kids all grown up). Not wanting to drag her on the back I got her a classic (with voyager kit) and I found an old 1987 BMW K100RT for myself. The last ride I had was a 1971 Honda CB750 and have never had or road a BMW. Long story short; 2 months and 8,000 miles later My little k bike is the bomb.
One small confession to make is that I did find the lean angle at the cost of an engine guard (left side), wind screen, and exhaust shield as well as a dent in my pride on a down hill off camber left at deals gap TN. The bike can be repaired but it will take time (and some riding lessons) for my pride to heal.

PS, Do you think the brands will brake up our mirage?

Hi Caveman welcome to the World of Ks.
Good that only your pride was damaged along with the dents.
With 8000 miles in 2 months you sure have been doing some riding.

Rick G,
I should mention that is the total on both rides. Just got back home from a 3000 mile (8 days) trip on the K that helped push that total. Hope the old bike continues to preform well until the snow starts flying at witch point I will rely on some help from the forum to go through it in prep for next season.

Welcome!  Good to hear you had minimal damage to yourself and the K.  Hope the wife has been going easy on you regarding your mishap.  You are in the right place for information on keeping your K up to snuff.

Whereabouts in Western PA are you riding out of?

Hello Caveman! Welcome to the forum. Western PA has some nice roads for riding.  My dad's family is from Punxsutawney (as in the Groundhog Phil) and I always enjoy having my bike there for a reunion. Although getting there through northern Ohio isn't the greatest...
Have fun with the RT!

Nice country for riding around there.  Used to do enduros out of Grove City and Oil City back in the day.  Might have to come down some time to go for a ride.

SteveK1,
I understand there is some great riding in MI as well. Someday I have to get up there and check it out for myself.
Brickrider,
Thanks!

Point-Seven-Five,
After a five years of not riding on dirt some friend talked me into running a AWORC race (round 8 Clintonville) this summer, a very slimy 14 mile loop. In the end at least there was not a DNF beside my name but I paid in pain for a week. I think it is time for me to let go of my 03  KX250, it just beats me up now. Hooking up for a ride on the road would be something I would enjoy, someday!

LOL!  Slimy doesn't tell half of it.  It's like those hills are made of Vaseline with a layer of wet leaves on top.

Sounds like a nice day trip to come down there.
