Well, while the Oz Krew were suffering in the heat sunny  on their Northern Tablelands ride, we were enjoying the healthy, bracing weather in the Derbyshire peaks.   Blizzard     Minus 3ºC inside my tent when I got back from the pub on Saturday night.  cheers

UK Peak district Sam_1210

That was camping weekend number 32 for this year: 17 with the outfit, 9 on the K solo and 6 on the Vincent.

Paul.

Wow that's impressive Paul. But the rookie mistake you made was leaving the pub. I know what I'd have done after looking out the door.
Tough stock over your way.

Yeah we know what you would have done ok.

But then you don't have ice cold beer right outside your tent in the morning. Now that's what's called a proper English breakfast! Delivered to your door.

I must admit I love camping in those conditions but its a struggle to find someone else to go along.

Look on it as practice for the Dragon. Or the Elefanttreffen. OTOH maybe it wasn't cold enough for that one.

No, Dai, I don't do things like the Dragon, although I used to in the '60s: not worth putting a tent up for just one night.

But I will be at the BMW Club's Rhino rally in north Wales in February. About 40 (geriatric?) campers, at least 2 nights camping and a proper camp site, that's my sort of weekend.

I did a couple of Elephants, again in the '60s, on my BSA plunger A10, in '69 returning home via the south of France.

Paul.

You went via the south of France to warm up eh?  Laughing  The peak district is my old stomping ground when I lived in Derbyshire. Still at -3 I think I'd be questioning my own sanity!

I see another brick rider in your pics....anyone on here?

Good effort Paul, you put us fair weather summer campers to shame. Didn't get a sniff of snow this far south though - just a bitter wind and a touch of frost. Warmed up again now though.

Dragon was -12 last year. Someone really forgot to turn the heating on but I didn't care - I had a new all-down sleeping bag!

Don't forget that if any of you guys and gals from the northern division want a break from the heat in your summer and fancy cold weather camping you can come down to Oz in June and accompany us to the Alpine Rally.

Rick G, Rosskko and I had no snow there this year but the -12C temperature should qualify as cold enough for you.

Don't know which is worse - riding through mid 40s or trying to sleep in sub zeros. Neither is my idea of a good time, but without the mid 40s riding I wouldn't have had the pleasure of the krew's company.

Bill
