Hi All,
Just wonder what you would recommend for getting air into tyres.
I have a 12v Michelin one for the car, but it's difficult to get the straight connector onto valve.
Garage outlets are not much help either as the outlet generally wont fit due to disk's.

So I guess I'm looking for a 12v pump with right angle connector and gauge.

Any ideas ?

If I'm at home, I normally use one of those foot pumps wih the flexible connectors and little plastic levers that lock the top onto the valve.  Aldi or Lidl normally have them, or similar ones.

And if I'm not at home I pull into the nearest garage.  I don't have any problems with the garage tyre pumps, with a bit of judicous wiggling (of the nozzle, not me )

I have ordered a set of these, which I will fit when they arrive. They are for my new tire pressure sensors from Garmin.
http://www.tpms.ca/T-VALVES-PURCHASE.html

I used to carry a small pump, but I don't really see the point any more. If you have a puncture on a tubeless, it will go down slowly enough to allow you to fill at garages (hopefully).

Oh, and the only guage I trust is the pencil guage I carry with me. I find that none of the guages connected to any tire pump are accurate.

I have a single barrel foot pump, was as small as I could get. It has a right angle connector and will fit the K. I have the same problem with garage air pumps too, it can be impossible to get some of them on to the K valves so I always inflate at home.

I've had this one BESTREST for ten years and carry it everywhere from the deserts of Mexico through the red centre of Australia to the wilds of Canada.
Spendy initially, but I've inflated four offroad 17" truck tyres after returning to the bitumen, in one go. The pump never got hot nor stuttered. It's got fixtures for straight-to-battery, BMW accessory plug and cigarette lighter 12V, the cord is nearly ten kilometres long for those hard-to-reach-places, and the pump is about the size of a cheap crime novel paperback but gives less drama.

Man, they must be very hard to reach places if you need 10k of cord to get there.   Laughing

Actually, it's eleven kilometres long. Unlike the Emerald Isle, where everything is right round the next corner at the local pub, in North America where Nevada's Highway 50 is known as the 'loneliest road in America', and in Australia, things are out 'back of Bourke' or 'beyond the black stump'. We need the reach.

Are you telling me that the cord is 11 kilometers, i.e. 6.8 miles long?   What a Face

Fair enough  metre/meter.

But I'm having a brain-fart today. Are you saying that you carried 6.8 miles of cable with you on the bike?

And if it was on a truck, then why?? Surely the truck is powering the pump to inflate its own tyres (tires  Very Happy  ). When would you need that much cable?

I am definitely missing something here (and sorry for the thread - drift).
And if there are pictures on the thread I can't see them as the firewall is blocking them - just in case there is a very obvious one pasted that answers my question.

a quick dustoff and clean and re-grease and she's up and running again.
Works a treat and with the "analogue" tyre pressure gauge it's a winner

Facetious is actually a word in the dictionary. I s'pose I should have inserted a winking smiley face in there...

From Bestrest's website (the link I included in my initial post above):

"The air hose is 18" long, the power cord is 8-ft long, and you can order an optional 8-ft AutoCord power extension for automotive applications. All components easily fit in the red Cordura storage pouch."

I carry/use a Halfords digital tyre inflator - I haven't got digital tyres (as far as I know), but the digital pressure read out on the pump is quite handy. At 150x190x80mm is is small enough to fit easily (in it's box) in my left hand storage box in the fairing (better use of space than the non OEM radio that previously languished there). It plugs into my 12v outlet and, whilst the cable is nothing like as long as TWB's 11Km monster, it is plenty long enough (and some) to be able to inflate front or rear tyres. The downside, as with your Michelin pump is that it has a straight connector (screws on to the tyre valve), however, with the bike on centre stand, I have no problem connecting the pump to the rear tyre inflation valve from the left hand side of the bike (the rear brake disc gets in the way on the right hand side). The front tyre inflation valve is easily reached from either side. For both front and rear tyres - turning the wheel so that the inflation valve is closest to the ground makes it easiest to get your hand in to screw the pump fitting on.

I don't know why "they" switched from the good old fangled right angled connectors - the straight ones are fiddly even on car tyres.

Can't be bothered with those old manual foot pumps - far too much like exercise.

OK, I looked and couldn't find a face-slap icon. As my mother would say, I was having a senior-moment.

OK - so it's not a cheap option but I swear by the reliability - had mine nearly ten years now and have used it in a variety of conditions with no real issues.

The only problem I had was the cigarette lighter connector on the very early pumps was cheap and with vibration would come loose internally, the wires would then touch each other and when you tried to use the pump you blew a couple of fuses.

I believe they have fixed this now - but even if they haven't it's an inexpensive fix. In fact I did a temporary roadside repair on mine about 7 years ago with the intention of replacing the connector, but I never got round to it and it's still working perfectly!

https://www.bestrestproducts.com/c-10-cyclepump-ez-gauge.aspx

Comes with an optional pressure gauge which is quite large but very accurate and like the pump itself it is incredibly strong and well built.

Since I bought it there is now the option for a right angle chuck. However, having a slow puncture in both tyres on my K100RT I can tell you that the straight one works fine and it's not actually too fiddly to use.

These pumps, mentioned early on in this thread, are put together by Dave Peterson of Bestrest fame, just a few miles north of Seattle, right up the road from me. I've had mine since '04, I reckon. It's not the least expensive nor is it the cheapest, and hasn't failed me once.
