As the Bathurst 1000 is on next weekend, this 26 minute period film, recorded back in 1980, and restored to watchable condition, highlights the competition between the GM Holden and Ford's Falcon. The story mainly follows Aussie driver extraordinaire (sadly, now deceased) Peter Brock.

Enjoy the show, and the awesome late '70s-era background music (which is I Robot by the Alan Parsons Project).

Mount Panorama is an awesome track which I've had a fond association with going back as far as 1972 when I snuck out of home at 6 in the morning at the tender age of 16 and pushed my newly aquired CB350 down the street so I wouldn't wake my parents and rode an hour and a half from Cowra to Bathurst to watch the Bathurst TT (aka Easter Bike Races). Awsome day... had a lot of explaining lieing to do to my parents when I got home but I never let out where I'd been. Attended every bike meeting there from then untill 1988 after which bikes ceased to race at Mount P due to an increase in rider fatalities because of armco and concrete barriers installed for the cars. Also spectator violence got out of hand with escalting conflicts between bikie gangs and the police riot squad (this actually became a spectator sport in itself).

I spent 35 years in Bathurst and ended up building a house on the side of Mount P and could see the pit area out my living room window.
