Great idea. Mate of mine carries 2 x 12L bladders with canvas protector bags on his KLR650.

Maybe some kind of canvas 'saddle bag' type of thing....draped over the fuel tank and secured at the front engine mounts or something. A smallish bladder (6-8L) in the pocket on each side. Folded away and stashed when not required.....

A good idea until you come off... Either jerrycans or fuel bladders stored in metal panniers has to be a better idea. A laydown carries too much danger of a fire from sparks caused by sliding or from a hot engine.

Many years ago when I built my 10mtr yacht I used those things for water and fuel. Big problems, when the boat rolled about the bladder would also roll around and in no time at all chaffed through. Water wasn't much of a problem but the diesel took some cleaning up.
If they are contained in a container like the pannier then they would probably last but I would be very loath to use them again.

Somewhat of an over simplification.... Wink

They are aluminium lined and super dooper strong. there are pics of 4WD's driving over full bladders with no damage. 

I reckon they would be better then carrying a jerry can around, for those times when you need to carry extra. 

I doubt Ill bother though - Ill just put the $$ toward expanding my K100 tank.
